Classic Caramel Apples

Equipment

  • 6 popsicle sticks
  • 1 wax paper

Ingredients
  

  • 6 apples honeycrisp, jonathan or any tart apple
  • 14 oz caramel dip
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • Soak store bought apples in hot water for 15 minutes. This is so you can easily wipe off the wax on apples. This step is essential in the process to ensure caramel will stick to the apples.
  • Gently wipe and dry apples with dishtowel or paper towel.
  • Cut stem of each apple and insert popsicle sticks.
  • Using a dutch oven, boil water in saucepan. In separate bowl to put over boiling water, empty contain of caramel in bowl. Once water is boiling put bowl on top and be sure to stir continuously.
  • Once caramel is melted, take apple by the stick and gently swirl apple in caramel until apple is covered completely. (sometimes using a spoon to ensure the caramel is well applied).
  • Put each caramel apple on wax paper and put in fridge for 30 minutes before serving.
